How are the tutoring classes held?
How many students are there per a class?
Tutor STEM exclusively offers 1 on 1 tutoring sessions, as this mode of tutoring yields better results & faster results, as supposed to group tutoring sessions, where students don't have as much opportunity to interact with their tutors.
Who are the tutors that are teaching the student during the tutoring class?
Ontario Certified Teachers (York Region District School Board Teachers, Toronto District School Board Teachers, & Durham District School Board Teachers) & Ph D. Graduates (with a Doctorate in the subject being instructed) are amongst the most in-demand & sought out for qualified professionals parents and students request from us for their tutor to be.
Typically, school teachers (who in the public school system must possess an Ontario Certified Teachers license) provide adequate and satisfactory tutoring; however, when subject content becomes more difficult and challenging, Ph.D. graduates (who have already received their Doctorate degree) are a better choice, as the subject content may be beyond the capabilities of a standard school teacher. Other highly qualified individuals with different types of qualifications are available upon request. The minimum requirement for ALL instructors tutoring Grades 9, Grade 10, Grade 11, and Grade 12 courses at Tutor STEM, is for the instructor to hold a valid Bachelor's Degree (Undergraduate Degree) from an accredited Canadian university - however Tutor STEM's instructors are far more qualified than that.

Why is an assessment conducted at the start before any tutoring begins?
An assessment (which is optional for the student to take) will be conducted during the student's first ever tutoring class. The purpose of this assessment is to find out the student's current level of understanding in the subject they are seeking tutoring for, prior to any of the tutoring starting. The assessment tells us where the student's current level of understanding is in the respective subject. This helps us design a custom academic study plan tailored towards the student's specific weaknesses.
What is the assessment exactly?
The initial assessment given to the student will depend on the subject & grade they are seeking tutoring for. The initial assessment used to measure their understanding of the subject they are seeking tutoring for will either be (Assessment Type 1) the previous grade's final exam for the same subject or (Assessment Type 2) the current grade's unit test of an upcoming test. If the student is preparing for a subject well before the starting date of them taking the subject in school, then Assessment Type 1 is conducted. If the student is currently taking the subject in school, and they need immediate help for upcoming tests, then Assessment Type 2 is conducted. The assessment is designed similarly to a regular school test or exam. The assessment will include Knowledge & Understanding, Thinking & Inquiry, Application, and Communication questions that are relevant to the high school course the student is seeking tutoring for.
What does the assessment tell us about the student?
The assessment reveals key insights of a student's academic performance, including:
(1) their overall understanding of the curriculum content in the respective course
(2) the specific concepts and types of questions the student is scoring correctly
(3) the specific concepts and types of questions the student is scoring incorrectly
(4) the student's fundamental knowledge on prerequisite concepts & theories
(5) an estimation of the student's current intelligence level
(6) the student's test-taking ability
(7) the student's cognitive ability, including critical thinking skills
(8) the student's memory levels & memorization ability
(9) the student's processing speed & problem-solving skills
(10) the student's ability to initiate the process of solving a never-seen-before question
Tutor STEM has been helping individuals from all sorts of academic backgrounds score excellent marks on their tests in order to facilitate a brighter future
